Synopsis

Gwen’s life has been a rollercoaster since she discovered she was the Ruby, the final member of the secret time-traveling Circle of Twelve. In between searching through history for the other time-travelers and asking for a bit of their blood (gross!), she’s been trying to figure out what all the mysteries and prophecies surrounding the Circle really mean.
At least Gwen has plenty of help. Her best friend Lesley follows every lead diligently on the Internet. James the ghost teaches Gwen how to fit in at an eighteenth century party. And Xemerius, the gargoyle demon who has been following Gwen since he caught her kissing Gideon in a church, offers advice on everything. Oh, yes. And of course there is Gideon, the Diamond. One minute he’s very warm indeed; the next he’s freezing cold. Gwen’s not sure what’s going on there, but she’s pretty much destined to find out.

My Review

Again we get our spunky protagonist, Gwyneth. Gwyneth is still adjusting to the realization that she, not Charlotte, possesses the time travel gene. She is still adjusting to Gideon, her time travel counterpart, who she may be falling in love with. Apparently Gideon is irresistible.

There is the introduction of a new character in this book, a gargoyle ghost named Xemerius who insists that he is a demon and not a ghost. He apparently hasn’t had anyone to talk to in ages and so refuses to leave Gwen alone. It must be rather lonely to be a ghost/demon with no one to talk to.

During this book, which takes place in about a week or so, Gwen has to prepare for a soiree in 1782, meet her grandfather who died years ago, try to decipher a message, and figure out how she feels about Gideon. Needless to say, quite a bit happens in this week.

Gwen’s friend, Lesley, is a hoot. I think she brings some much needed comic relief at times and really tried to do all she can for Gwen, which mainly consists of research.

I don’t know how much I can really write about this book without giving too much away. It is a fast paced novel that keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next.

  1. I absolutely haaaaaated this one. Too complicated and just super boring, I wasn’t really a fan of the first so it’s kinda to be expected that I didn’t like this one either. I don’t think I’ll ever be reading the third, it’s just not for me I guess.

    • I’m sorry you didn’t like this book. I actually liked quite a bit of the complicated backstory that came about in Sapphire Blue.
I hope you have a current good read and a wonderful rest of the week. Thanks for visiting!
