Synopsis

A boy with extraordinary powers. An army of deadly monsters. An epic battle for the future of peculiardom.
The adventure that began with Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and continued in Hollow City comes to a thrilling conclusion with Library of Souls. As the story opens, sixteen-year-old Jacob discovers a powerful new ability, and soon he’s diving through history to rescue his peculiar companions from a heavily guarded fortress. Accompanying Jacob on his journey are Emma Bloom, a girl with fire at her fingertips, and Addison MacHenry, a dog with a nose for sniffing out lost children.
They’ll travel from modern-day London to the labyrinthine alleys of Devil’s Acre, the most wretched slum in all of Victorian England. It’s a place where the fate of peculiar children everywhere will be decided once and for all. Like its predecessors,
Library of Souls blends thrilling fantasy with never-before-published vintage photography to create a one-of-a-kind reading experience.

My Review

What a wonderful conclusion to this great series! Library of Souls continues immediately after Hollow City. Jacob, Emma, and Addison are cowering in an attacked train station with a hollow staring them down.

Jacob has just discovered he can control the hollow. Emma is exhausted and running on empty. Addison, the peculiar dog, is trying to track the kidnapped peculiars. The wights are chasing them.

Things don’t look so good for Jacob, Emma, and Addison or their kidnapped friends. They end up in what was once a punishment loop before being taken over by the wights: Devil’s Acre. They find some people who might be able to help them and they hear the wights real plan.

Caul, the leader of the wights, wants to find the lost loop of Abaton. Abaton is the legendary loop where peculiar souls go when peculiars die. There the peculiar souls are stored in the Library of Souls. Caul wants to find Abaton and the Library of Souls so that he can become king of peculiardom. It is an ambitious plan.

Jacob and Emma are the ones who might be able to save their friends and stop Caul from taking over the world. However, Devil’s Acre isn’t exactly what it seems and Jacob and Emma don’t know who they can really trust.

Like the previous two books, old photos play a part in Library of Souls. It is amazing how Ransom Riggs has woven these old photographs seamlessly into his story. I’ll share some of the photos I particularly liked after I tell you one very important thing: Go read this amazing series!
