Synopsis

Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker; unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.
When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.

First of all, as this is the third book in the series this review will most likely (okay, will) contain spoilers to Cinder and Scarlet. If you have not read those two, I advise clicking away from this review. I would not want to spoil those books for you.

I love this world so much! This may be, I think, my favorite of The Lunar Chronicles.

The book starts with Cinder and crew going to rescue Cress for the satellite. Things don’t go as planned (Do they ever?) and the group gets split up. They are trying to find each other, trying to crash/stop Emperor Kai’s impending wedding to Queen Levana so she doesn’t become Empress and take over the Earthen Union, and trying to figure out how to make Cinder the Queen of Luna. That all creates a bit of an adventure.

Cinder is back! I really like how her character has grown from the unwanted cyborg ward turned mechanic into accepting that she is the long lost Lunar Princess.

Then there is Cress. I love Cress. She is naive but highly intelligent. Having been trapped in a satellite for years has left her socially awkward but I love that about her.

I wish there was more of Scarlet in this book. I missed her practicality. Also, poor Wolf seems so lost when she isn’t there. I hate seeing him that way.

Thorne is not as cocky in this book. I don’t like how he tries to push Cress away even though I understand what he’s thinking. He just doesn’t see how great he is for her. It is awful sweet how he is always trying to protect her.

Kai makes some stupid choices. He is trying to save the whole world and all, but really. Ugh. But I still love him. He and Cinder will be great together once they finally get to spend time together.

Then there is the evil Queen Levana of Luna. I still hate her. I really don’t get why she wants Earth so bad. I mean, she already has Luna. However, she must not be satisfied with simply the Moon. The Earth is the next obvious choice as Earthens are so easy to brainwash.

In case you can’t tell, I love this book. I love the whole series. I will most likely reread them multiple times. Now I just can’t wait for Winter!!

Winter by Marissa Meyer

I just came across the cover and it is gorgeous, isn’t it?
