Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

It has been a long time since I have written a Top Ten Tuesday post. I haven’t meant to leave it this long, but apparently life gets in the way. Anyway, I am back for now. This week’s list is the Top Ten Favorite 2016 Releases So Far. Since I have only read 11 2016 releases I would rate 5 stars so far, I’m going to give you all eleven. They are listed in the order in which I read them.

1. Miriam by Mesu Andrews

This is the second book in a series retelling the biblical events of Exodus from a woman’s standpoint. The first, The Pharaoh’s Daughter, told the story from the point of view of Moses’s adoptive mother. Miriam tells the story from the point of view of Moses’s Aunt Miriam. These are seriously great stories and you should read them.

2. Raelia by Lynette Noni

Raelia is also a sequel. The first book in the Medoran Chronicles, Akarnae, was amazing and Raelia did not disappoint. I was actually in tears by the end of this novel. I do not cry over books often and this book really is that amazing! If you haven’t heard of this series, you seriously need to go get them ASAP! It isn’t easy to find this series in the USA but I do believe they are available from Amazon as Kindle books.

3. The Catholic Catalogue by Melissa Musick and Anna Keating

The Catholic Catalogue is a wonderful resource of various points of Catholic life. If you are Catholic or at all interested in anything about the Catholic Church, you should go check this book out. It is great!

4. The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

Do I really need to say much about how much I adore The Star-Touched Queen?? It is one of the most beautifully written books I have ever read and I just love everything about it. So far this year, this is my absolute favorite read! It is that utterly amazing and beautiful and you should totally go read it RIGHT NOW!

5. The Name of God is Mercy by Pope Francis

Oddly enough, this is the only title on this list that is NOT on my All Time Favorites list. This is a great book about the Mercy of God and what this means during the Year of Mercy. Again, this is a great reference book for anyone who is Catholic or curious about this aspect of the Catholic faith.

6. Risuko by David Kudler

Risko is an amazing book! It was not what I went in expecting but so very much more. Risuko is the beginning of a new series about medieval-ish Japan and I cannot wait to see where this series goes. If you loved the His Fair Assassin series, you should totally read Risuko.

7. The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski

I was so very sad to see The Winner’s Trilogy end. I am going to miss Kestrel and Arin and all the rest of the amazing characters. This was a wonderful conclusion to the series even if I do think it may have tied things up a bit too tidily. Either way, this was a great read.

8. Divined by Emily Wibberley

When I started Divined, I did not realize that it was the final book in The Last Oracle series. I was completed shocked that this series that I love so much really is over. However, this is a wonderful conclusion to the series. It is full of everything we have come to love from the series: Clio, Riece, Tirza, battles for survival, and questions of everything that has come before. This is an amazing series that I highly recommend.

9. The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater

This is yet another series that I cannot believe is over. The Raven King was beautifully written and the ending was just amazing. I am definitely going to miss Blue and the Raven Boys but how could I not love this book?

10. The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh

I have just realized how many of these are series enders! The Rose and the Dagger ends the story started in The Wrath and the Dawn. Shazi and Khalid’s story comes to a wondrous ending and I just cannot believe that it is really over. Can we please have more Shazi in our lives?

11. Ruined by Amy Tintera

Where do I even start with Ruined? This book has a little bit of everything. There is magic, espionage, death, battles, kind princes, and fleeing for your life. I think there just might be something for everyone in this amazing book.

These are my Top Ten Favorite 2016 Releases So Far. Feel free to share yours as well and check out the rest of them at The Broke and the Bookish.

I don’t usually read many new releases, but it sounds like I have to read Risuko! I did like the His Fair Assassin and I also like books set in Japan–kind of rare in YA, I guess.

  2. “The Catalogue” looks interesting. Frankly, I think the cover is super! I will have to check it out…. The “Risuko” cover is nice, too. I’m a sucker for good covers? LOL
