January 2016 in Review

Things that Happened in January

  • It has been a stressful month. Apparently my brain needed books to manage the stress because I read quite a few books this month. And by “quite a few,” I mean “a lot.”
  • On the topic of the above, please pray for my sister. I can’t say more since I don’t want to share her story here, but she does need prayers.
  • I was able to attend my friend’s wedding in Washington, DC and it was beautiful. It was great to see so many friends that I haven’t seen in two years.
  • I read 17 books this month which is A LOT! I blame quite a bit of it on the traveling I did to and from Washington, DC. There isn’t much to do on a plane besides read and so I read.
  • My favorite book of the month (non-reread) was Illuminae and my favorite reread was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Things I’m Looking Forward to in February

  • Well, I’m NOT looking forward to the month of no breaks. We won’t have a break until the day after Easter and our last break was Martin Luther King, Jr Day. It is crazy because these kids need breaks. Also, after the Monday after Easter, there are no breaks until the end of the year. All I can say is that this is going to be interesting…
  • I am going to be starting a blog series on blog organization. If you have anything you would like me to cover, let me know in the comments or via a message.

  1. Lifting my voice up to bend God’s ear for your sister. (((HUGS)))
You had a fantastic month for books. A couple I’ve read and loved, like Anne.
    Happy February!

  2. First of all – your sister definitely has my prayers!

    17 books! *applauds*

OMG Illuminae has been high up there on my TBR since before it came out and I STILL haven’t gotten around to it. It looks so unique and so good and I hope to read it super soon!

  3. congrats on reading 17 books this month. That’s great! I read 15 which is a lot for me too. I’m sorry your sister is in need of prayers, but I’ll keep her in mine. 🙂 I hope all turns out well.

    • Thanks!
Outlander was actually a DNF at 592 pages. I’m counting it as a book because I read almost the whole thing which is more than some of the other books I read in January.
I hope you have a great end of the week!

  4. You weren’t kidding. That is a lot of books!
I hope your sister is alright :/
I’m curious how Daughters of Ruin was for you. That is on my tbr list.
You read Anne of Green Gables! I really should start reading that series. I’ve fallen in love with Gilbert in this vlog adaption of the story.

    • My sister will be alright but it will take some time.
I really enjoyed Daughters of Ruin and gave it 4 stars. I loved the character of Iren. She was definitely my favorite. I’ll be posting my review in April shortly before the release date.
Everyone I’ve known who has read Anne of Green Gables has fallen for Gilbert. He is amazing. I’m actually rereading Anne since I read the whole series when I was a lot younger.
      Thanks for stopping by!
