My Review
I was so happy when I got the call that I could pick this book up at the library. I was a bit hesitant since I don’t always like hyped books but I needn’t have worried. I loved These Broken Stars.
Tarver is a soldier. He is a major in the army at eighteen due to some heroics that we never get all the details about. He is unsure of himself is social situations that involve the rich of the universe and hates that he has to associate with them and the media.
Lilac is the daughter of the wealthiest man in the universe. She has everything that money could possibly buy. She is spoiled as her father’s only child and no one would dare refuse her anything.
It seems so unlikely that the two would ever meet and, yet, they do. Lilac tries to push Tarver away to protect him from her overprotective father. Tarver tries to convince himself that he cares nothing for the spoiled heiress.
Then a tragedy strikes their airship, Icarus, and it is ripped from hyperspace. Tarver and Lilac end up together in the only escape pod that manages to get free of the Icarus. Alone they crash land on a strange planet.
Tarver knows the colonial planets of the universe. He knows what should and should not be on them as he has been on many during his past few years with the military. He knows the planet should have settlements. He knows the planet should not be this quiet, this empty.
Somehow Tarver and Lilac have to trek across the planet, keep each other alive, and hope that someone finds them soon. All the while, strange things are happening.
I loved this book. It is so original. At first I was a little afraid that it would just be a space-Titanic-Swiss Family Robinson hybrid. This book is so much more than that. I would love to tell you more but I don’t want to spoil anything for you.
I am so glad that you enjoyed this! I must now be the only person on the planet who hasn’t read it 😉 I wanted to read it before the last book came out, but that is happening REALLY soon, so… probably not. But at least I can binge, right? The characters sound so fabulous! Great review 😀
That you. I have the second book from the library sitting on my shelf but I haven’t picked it up yet. I really need to do that as well so that I am ready for the third book.
Thanks for visiting!
