Wow, March is over already. Lent is almost over and it is Holy Week already! Crazy to think how fast everything went this year.

Things that Happened in March

  • I designed covers for my journals. They are just composition books from WalMart/Shopko. I design a 7×9 image in Photoshop, print, and tape on. I love them!

  • I got accepted for a summer job at a Catholic summer camp. I am very excited!

An Update and Holy Week Hiatus

Posted March 28, 2015 in Faith / 0 Comments

As next week is Holy Week and some of the most holy days in this Church year, I have decided to take a break from the blog. I will not be commenting or replying to comments in this time. However, I have a March wrap-up post scheduled for Tuesday.

I have made this decision based on a few different things. It is Holy Week. The most solemn days occur during this week, namely the Triduum. For those who don’t know, the Triduum is comprised of Holy Thursday (the day of the last supper and the agony in the garden), Good Friday (the day on which Jesus suffered and died for us), and Holy Saturday (the day in which Jesus laid in the tomb among the dead). I want to be able to focus fully on God this week.

This decision is also for my own sanity. I need a break to recharge and just focus on some stuff going on in my life. It is a crazy time of the year at the school as well as all sorts of things have been happening at home. I really don’t want to use this blog to complain, but can you all please pray for me? Thanks so much!

So, basically, this is just me letting you all know that my lack of posts, commenting, and replying is just temporary. I will be back by Easter Monday.

For all the Christians, I pray that you have a very fruitful Holy Week and a joyous Easter.

February 2015 in Review

Posted February 28, 2015 in Faith, Reading / 2 Comments

It is so hard to believe it is the end of February already. This has been a crazy month.

Things that Happened in February

  • Lent started with Ash Wednesday the beginning of the month.
  • I got the nasty cold thing going around the school. I have to remember to thank my students for that one.
  • We had this really great false spring with temperatures in the 60s (Farenheit) and then we were down to the negatives again.
  • I left town twice this month! This is pretty big when the closest other places are 2+ hours away and there is a lot of snow on the ground.
  • I spent a great deal of time with my head in a book and I am perfectly okay with that.

My Favorite Ash Wednesday Hymn

Posted February 18, 2015 in Faith / 0 Comments

It is crazy to think that today is already Ash Wednesday. It seems like Christmas just ended and now it’s the middle of February and the beginning of Lent.

One of my favorite songs ever is “Ashes” which is typically only sung on Ash Wednesday. So, on this Ash Wednesday, I offer you a brief meditation on the four verses. Sadly, one of the best videos I found does not have all of the verses. 🙁 Therefore, the following verses are from memory.
