February 2015 in Review

Posted February 28, 2015 in Faith, Reading / 2 Comments

It is so hard to believe it is the end of February already. This has been a crazy month.

Things that Happened in February

  • Lent started with Ash Wednesday the beginning of the month.
  • I got the nasty cold thing going around the school. I have to remember to thank my students for that one.
  • We had this really great false spring with temperatures in the 60s (Farenheit) and then we were down to the negatives again.
  • I left town twice this month! This is pretty big when the closest other places are 2+ hours away and there is a lot of snow on the ground.
  • I spent a great deal of time with my head in a book and I am perfectly okay with that.

Synopsis

Young, beautiful, and wealthy, Emma Pennington is accustomed to a very comfortable life. Although war rages abroad, she hardly feels its effect. She and her mother travel from their home in Britain to the family estate in Belgium, never imagining that the war could reach them there. But it does.
Soon Emma finds herself stranded in a war-torn country, utterly alone. Enemy troops fight to take over her estate, leaving her with no way to reach her family, and no way out.
With all of her attention focused on survival and escape, Emma hardly expects to find love. But the war will teach her that life is unpredictable, people aren’t always what they seem, and magic is lurking everywhere.

January 2015 Monthly Wrap-Up

Posted January 31, 2015 in Reading / 2 Comments

The first month of 2015 is completed. That just sounds crazy. I am finally remembering to write 2015, at least most of the time.

Things that Happened in January

  • My sister was home from college over break.
  • We took my sister back to college and I was able to visit a WalMart and a bookstore and more than a two lane road!
  • Montana Winter Fair started Friday and ends Sunday. The best thing about this is the library used book sale. Paperbacks for 25-50¢ and hardcovers for $1. It is amazing… when they have books I want to read rather than just westerns and such.

Books I Read in January

The Web by Megan ChanceThe Lightning Thief by Rick RiordanThe One by Kiera Cass
Ancient Christian Worship by Andrew B McGowanLoved As I Am by Miriam James HeidlandA Book of Uncommon Prayer by Brian DoyleAtlantia by Ally Condie
My Sisters the Saints by Colleen Carroll CampbellThe Fellowship of the Ring by J R R TolkienPoison Study by Maria V Snyder.

2015 Reading Challenges

Posted January 1, 2015 in Reading / 10 Comments

My 2016 Reading Challenges can be found here.

If you can’t tell by now, I like to read. A lot. I stumbled across some of these book challenges and I think some would be pretty cool. I figured it would probably be beneficial to put a post together of the book challenges I have decided to participate in for 2015.

I basically just keep adding to this list every time I hear about a new challenge that I think I can do. Since I have a slight book addiction (yes, I think I’m in denial), this list will likely get longer.

I give you My 2015 Reading Challenges List, listed in the order in which I became aware of them:
