{TTT} Things I Do Besides Read

Posted January 26, 2016 in Faith, Life / 6 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s list is a freebie so I have decided to share with you the Top Ten Things I Do Besides Read. I hope that I can get to ten or else my life isn’t all that exciting.

1. Blog

I obviously blog or you wouldn’t be reading this right now. I would say that this takes up a fair share of my time.

2. Work

As I have mentioned before, I am a teacher. I teach in my school’s fifth and sixth grade special education and resource room. I love what I do but it is a lot of work. Some days are better than others and no day is ever like the day before. Everyday is definitely a new surprise… and sometimes I would rather the “surprise” went away.

3. Prayer

The first thing I do in the morning is pray Morning Prayer and prayer is one of the last things I do before bed at night. Prayer is a rather important part of my daily life. I think you could probably, maybe tell this from looking at my blog. The url is CATHOLICamanda. The title (Orandi et Legendi) is Latin. The tagline is “just a girl praying and reading.” Yep, prayer is pretty important to me.

4. Cooking and Eating

Food is always good, am I right? I have heard it said that food might be just slightly important to survival. In my case, I spend quite a bit of time worrying about food because all of my crazy food issues. (Thank you, Celiac and Allergies!) I don’t have the luxury of fast food unless my goal is to be sick and so I worry about food prep as well.

5. Photography

I take quite a few photos and edit them in Photoshop. Most of these don’t end up on my Instagram. What ends up on Instagram are usually photos taken and edited on my phone.

6. Journal

I don’t journal as much as I used to but I still do a bit. I would love to spend more time with my journal but I typically end up writing out what will later become some sort of post of this blog, such as my reviews, instead of actually journaling.

7. Teaching Religious Education

I teach 4th grade religious education at my parish. I teach once a week and spend some time planning before each class. I love these nights even though they can get a bit tedious.

8. Watching Netflix

I go on binges where I will watch every episode of certain TV shows and then not watch anything at all for awhile. My sister and I used to binge H2O: Just Add Water, H2O: Mako Mermaids, and Lightning Point. I have, on my own, binged Doctor Who, Sherlock, Gilmore Girls, and Roswell.

9. Computer Games

I don’t play a lot of computer games at all. I haven’t played Sims in awhile at all. I have 2 and 3, both of which I enjoy at times. My sister and I have always liked the Nancy Drew mystery games and so I will binge some of the newer games sometimes. Recently, I played The Silent Spy for two days until I had solved the mystery.

10. Walking

I enjoy walking. I often (when the weather isn’t so terrible) walk to the school I work at. I enjoy the early morning and the time after school by myself to decompress before/after crazy things happen. Sometimes I wish I had a dog to take for walks so then I would actually have to go more often. Maybe someday…

These are the Top Ten Things I Do Besides Read. What would the list of the things you do besides read include? Would we share any?

    • Exactly. I will usually have earbuds in with something playing. Sometimes an audiobook, sometimes a podcast, and sometimes music.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great rest of the week!

  1. Oh oh I love walking to!! I walk SO SO MUCH (like twice a day) although it’s blindingly hot at the moment, which makes it a bit uncomfortable. But whatever. XD Omg, cooking is fun. Hehe, and I understand the allergy issues! I don’t eat grains or dairy so…life can be pretty tricky, wah. But still fun. 😉
    PHOTOGRAPHY IS LIFE. <3
This is such an awesome list, Amanda, and it's nice to read a bit of "behind the scenes" sort of stuff. ;D

    • I’m glad you enjoyed the list. Sometimes it is so hard to come up with my own ideas for posts. This one was a lot of fun to write.
Food is always a tricky endeavor but it feels great when I make something that tastes delicious. Then all the anxiety about the right ingredients is totally justified because I made an awesome dish that tastes great.
Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a great rest of the week!

    • Thank you. I always hate freebie weeks because I feel like I can’t come up with something original. I am actually proud of this post.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great rest of the weekend!
