{TTT} Book & Series Recommendations I’ve Actually Read

Posted October 11, 2016 in Reading / 8 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly link-up hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s list is the Top Ten Books I Read on Recommendations. There are so many books that have been recommended to me, especially since I began this blog. I’m just going to list the six I can think of right now (though I am sure there are more) in no particular order.

1. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

I just had to pick up this series after seeing Cait @ Paper Fury fangirling over it. I am so glad that I did. This is one great series.

The Raven Boys, The Dream Thieves, Blue Lily, Lily Blue, The Raven King

2. Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead

This was a book I picked up on my sister’s recommendation. The storyline was interesting and, to make it even better, it is set in rural Montana.

Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kiss

3. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

This series was recommended by the entire book blogging community. I first became aware of the series when Cress was released. Looking back at Cinder, I wasn’t sure if I would like a story about a cyborg-Cinderella. Turns out, I love the series. Thanks so much, friendly book bloggers of the interwebs.

Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, Fairest, Winter, Stars Above

4. The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

This is another series that I owe to the whole book blogging community. I probably wouldn’t have picked it up if it weren’t for all the fangirling over the Darkling and Nikolai.

Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, Ruin and Rising

5. Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan

This is a series that I owe to my sister. She made me read the first one and I really liked it. Now I just need to finish the series. It’s not like I don’t have the last book sitting on my shelf…

The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titan’s Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth

6. Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein

I’m not sure why I never picked this one up until I saw a few posts about it. It may be that the time period has its own associations in my mind. However, I was so glad that I picked up Code Name Verity. It is an amazing story of friendship amid terrible times.

These are the Six Books/Series I Have Read on Recommendations. Feel free to share yours as well and check out the rest of them at The Broke and the Bookish.

  1. I want to read Vampire Academy, I saw the movie and while I know it’s not considered a good movie lol it did pique my interest. I’ve heard the books are better. I’ve heard Code Name Verity is really good too.
