Why I Don’t Write More Discussion Posts…

Posted June 10, 2016 in Let's Discuss, Life / 6 Comments

In case you are unaware, I am an elementary school teacher. I work in the special education room with both SPED and Title students. In our classroom, every day is a new adventure. Even though we have lesson plans, I don’t think we had a single day this year where we actually followed it in it’s entirety. We schedule in a little crazy but this year has been even crazier than anticipated.

When I finally make it home after work, I am utterly exhausted. I want to sit in a room that actually has windows. I want to be somewhere without fluorescent lights. I want to be able to take my shoes off and curl up with a book and a snack. Some days, I am so sick of computers that I won’t even turn mine on when I get home from the school.

Starting in August I will be adding to this two online classes for my Master’s degree. Life isn’t slowing down. Rather, it feels like it is picking up steam. I don’t want to get burned out.

This summer I have some discussion posts I would like to write. I’m not going to make any promises, but I do hope to get at least a few done. I feel like I’ve been a bit stuck in a rut with mainly only reviews recently.

This post isn’t meant to try to arouse sympathy since I know we are all busy. This is just my explanation.

I created my blog because it is something I want to do. I am not going to turn it into something I feel I need to do. My blog is my hobby, not something I am obligated to do.

Have you ever felt that your blog was turning into an obligation rather than something you want to do?

  1. I think you have the right attitude about it. You should only write posts that make you happy, not stress you out! Your blog is for you – and even though I’m a big fan of discussions, I know how taxing they can be to write sometimes. Hope you feel inspired this summer!

    • The summer is going to be a busy one. *sigh* I’m going to aim for at least two bookish discussions, if I can get them done.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great rest of the week!

You’re an elementary school teacher? God, I bet that must be absolutely exhausting, and very rewarding at the same time. I don’t think I have near as much patience as you ohmygoodness. And hey, we all get busy, and I’m sure we’ll all still be here for when the rut is over.

    • Thank you! Teaching is crazy exhausting. We tend to get rather excited when we get to send the kids out for recess. That means ten minutes of sit time!
Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a great rest of the week!

  3. Oh oh I totally get the stressfulness of life making blogging a bit tiring. *nods* I think it’s important to keep blogging as something you’re passionate about and a happy place, instead of something you feel forced to do! Because, ugh, blogging because you HAVE to quickly makes it tough, right? Good luck with your schedule though, that seems packed!! Ahhh.

    • Thank you! My schedule is super busy and it doesn’t look like it is going to slow down much this summer. Sometimes I wonder what a quiet life would actually look like? Would I just be able to read all the time and not worry about anything else? If so, sign me up for it!
Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day!
