I’m going to be rereading this one soon because I really like it. I have read it almost every year since I was in grade school.
From Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell:
I had never noticed before how silent the village was. Fog crept in and out of the empty huts. It made shapes as it drifted and they reminded me of all the people who were dead and those who were gone. The noise of the surf seemed to be their voices speaking.
Grab a book and join the fun.
I loved this book when I was in school! Thanks for sharing.

I don’t remember loving, only liking this when I was a kid, but the writing is so beautiful in the passage you chose I should think about giving it a re-read.

When I was in grade school I was obsessed with dolphins which may have been the reason I picked this one up in the first place. I can’t quite remember.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great weekend.
