“Praise the Lord, who heals the brokenhearted.” -Psalm 147:3
From today’s Responsorial Psalm, this refrain stands out to me for so many ways. In varied ways, we are all brokenhearted over/about something/someone. We all know those situations where we just don’t know what to do, we don’t know if we can survive it, and even sometimes… we don’t know if we want to survive it. We have all experienced these times.
Healing of our broken-heartedness… that is something that is not as universal of an experience. It can happen and it often does… but it is not something that typically happens when we want it to happen. Our broken hearts need time to heal and space. These things are not always easy to come by.
The way that most often healing of our broken-heartedness comes about is through grace. Grace is a gift from God and we can only be given grace if we are willing to accept it. We can reject God’s grace, His love. He does not force us to accept Him.
So I encourage you all to put yourselves in the presence of the Lord and ask for His help in healing. He is with those who call upon Him and, soon, our hearts will be able to sing with the psalmist, “Praise the Lord, Who heals the brokenhearted” (Psalm 147:3).
Hope all is well.
