“O wonder of your humble care for us!
O love, O charity beyond all telling,
to ransom a slave you gave away your Son!”
-Exsultet (The Easter Proclamation)
I pray that you all have a most blessed Easter season as we celebrate the Resurrection of the Savior of the world. May we always remember that, out of His great love, the God of the Universe became man so as to die for our sins. How blessed are we in our God’s care for us.
“You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified.
He has been raised; He is not here.”
-Mark 16:6

I just finished this book and did not want to wait to share it. I really loved it. I also think that it fits nicely with the Triduum and the Easter season.
I pray that every one of you has a wonderful Easter weekend!

Combining history, politics, and religion, Mike Aquilina and Jim Papandrea provide practical lessons to be learned from the struggles of the Early Church, lessons that can be applied to the day-to-day lives of Christian readers.
Prolonged, multiple wars in the Middle East. Waves of immigrants crossing the borders. Ongoing economic recession. Increasing political polarization, often with religious overtones. Conflicts over ideologies that pit the progressive against the traditional. Sound familiar? These conditions not only describe the United States, but the situation of the Roman Empire in the third century. That situation led to religious persecution and the eventual collapse of the empire. In the middle of the third century, the Roman Empire was roughly the same age as the United States is now.
In this book, authors Mike Aquilina and Jim Papandrea examine the practices of the Early Church—a body of Christians living in Rome—and show how the lessons learned from these ancient Christians can apply to Christians living in the United States today. The book moves from the Christian individual, to the family, the church and the world, explaining how the situation of the Early Church is not only familiar to modern Christian readers, but that its values are still relevant.

As next week is Holy Week and some of the most holy days in this Church year, I have decided to take a break from the blog. I will not be commenting or replying to comments in this time. However, I have a March wrap-up post scheduled for Tuesday.
I have made this decision based on a few different things. It is Holy Week. The most solemn days occur during this week, namely the Triduum. For those who don’t know, the Triduum is comprised of Holy Thursday (the day of the last supper and the agony in the garden), Good Friday (the day on which Jesus suffered and died for us), and Holy Saturday (the day in which Jesus laid in the tomb among the dead). I want to be able to focus fully on God this week.
This decision is also for my own sanity. I need a break to recharge and just focus on some stuff going on in my life. It is a crazy time of the year at the school as well as all sorts of things have been happening at home. I really don’t want to use this blog to complain, but can you all please pray for me? Thanks so much!
So, basically, this is just me letting you all know that my lack of posts, commenting, and replying is just temporary. I will be back by Easter Monday.
For all the Christians, I pray that you have a very fruitful Holy Week and a joyous Easter.
