To celebrate this crazy, beautiful, amazing year, I have decided to host a series of giveaways. The giveaways will all be Kindle ebooks since those are cheaper and I can send them internationally much easier. 🙂 Today’s theme is Tale As Old As Time.
The desire to do something original is a desire that we all have. We all want to do the next new thing. We want to do things first, to do things different.
Yet it is so hard to come up with something completely original. The best we can do is to come up with our own spin on what has already been done. We have to be original in the way we put our own spin on things.
So this is the problem with coming up with new ideas to blog about. We have to put our own spin on something so that we have something to post. I’ve been having a problem with this myself lately. It is hard to come up with more than just reviews and memes. Any ideas you could give me would be great.
This brings me to fairy tale retellings. They are original spins on classic tales that are mostly well known. These are authors who find a way to make things new and original while utilizing ideas and themes and tropes that have existed for quite a while.
We have all heard fairy tales almost our entire lives. I, at least, grew up with Disney movies and fairy tales for bedtime stories. I love fairy tales. That is one of the reasons I love fairy tale retellings so much.
Lately I have seen a lot of fairy tale retellings. I’ve read quite a bit of them as well. I’m always on the lookout for new, great retellings. If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.
Now for this giveaway…
Today is a Kindle ebook copy of Beauty by Robin McKinley. This is one of the first fairy tale retellings I ever read and I still love it. It is so true to the Beauty and the Beast story and yet it has it’s own way with it. For those who haven’t read it, this really is a must read if you love fairy tales. I totally recommend it!
Good Luck! The giveaway winner will be contacted on November 5th. The winner must respond to my email within 48 hours or another winner will be selected. I am going to verify entries so please don’t cheat.
The previous posts in this series may be found here: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4.
I’ve never read this fairy tale retelling, but I do love the Lunar Chronicles and A Tale Dark and Grimm series by Adam Gidwitz. Thanks for hosting these giveaways!
The Lunar Chronicles is great!
No problem. Thanks for visiting!
Favorite retelling is The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer… starting with, Cinder.
The Lunar Chronicles are wonderful! I am having a hard time waiting for Winter. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
