Winter's Child

This is yet another book that I read when I was younger. Winter’s Child is a retelling of The Snow Queen. It has been years since I read this book so, when I saw it at the library, I decided a reread was in order.

From Winter’s Child by Cameron Dokey:

After all these years, he still called me Little One,
the nickname he’d given me as a child so that neither of us
would have to spend our days listening to him call me Sorrow.

Synopsis of Winter's Child via Goodreads

Free-spirited Grace and serious Kai are the best of friends. They grew up together listening to magical tales spun by Kai’s grandmother and sharing in each other’s secrets. But when they turn sixteen and Kai declares his love for Grace, everything changes. Grace yearns for freedom and slowly begins to push Kai – and their friendship – away.
Dejected Kai dreams of a dazzling Snow Queen, who entices him to leave home and wander to faraway lands. When Grace discovers Kai is gone, she learns how much she has lost and sets out on a mystical journey to find Kai…and discover herself.

  1. Mine this week is also a book I read when I was younger but is much simpler than this one! I’ve read a few retellings of The Snow Queen and they’re usually my favorite of the fairy tale redos. This one looks really lovely and like a book I’d enjoy even now. Thanks for sharing!
